Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.19% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which rose 1.89% or 0.49 points to trade at 26.39 at the close. Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) added 1.52% or 0.81 points to end at 54.14 and Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) was up 1.31% or 0.45 points to 34.82 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which lost 2.32% or 3.45 points to trade at 145.05 in late trade. Gemalto (AS:GTO) declined 2.29% or 0.73 points to end at 31.16 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 1.84% or 1.44 points to 76.91.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 75 to 50 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.04% to 10.42.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.06% or 0.03 to $51.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.19% or 0.11 to hit $57.99 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.13% or 1.71 to trade at $1284.49 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1791, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8935.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 93.29.
