Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.20% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 4.13% or 1.41 points to trade at 35.38 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 4.02% or 3.350 points to end at 86.640 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 2.82% or 0.695 points to 25.310 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA), which lost 1.59% or 0.59 points to trade at 36.58 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 1.40% or 3.00 points to end at 211.85 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) shed 1.16% or 0.225 points to 19.165.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 57 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.13% to 10.88.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.13% or 0.07 to $54.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.53% or 0.32 to hit $60.62 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.49% or 6.25 to trade at $1276.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.1627, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8762.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 94.60.
