Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.49% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.53% or 3.680 points to trade at 84.880 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.76% or 0.785 points to end at 29.200 and Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV (AS:BOSN) was up 2.08% or 0.64 points to 31.46 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 1.77% or 0.17 points to trade at 9.45 in late trade. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) declined 1.20% or 0.90 points to end at 74.20 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) shed 0.63% or 0.120 points to 18.995.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 50 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.90% to 10.25.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.08% or 0.05 to $61.49 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $67.62 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.31% or 4.10 to trade at $1318.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.1970, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.8828.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 92.07.
