Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.71% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Unilever NV DRC (AS:UNc), which rose 1.97% or 0.96 points to trade at 49.90 at the close. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) added 1.34% or 2.05 points to end at 154.80 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) was up 1.01% or 0.270 points to 26.965 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which lost 2.03% or 0.510 points to trade at 24.615 in late trade. NN Group NV (AS:NN) declined 0.50% or 0.18 points to end at 35.96 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 0.37% or 0.29 points to 77.74.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 88 to 40 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 7.20% to 10.55.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.44% or 0.24 to $54.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.58% or 0.35 to hit $60.94 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.49% or 6.20 to trade at $1271.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.1652, while EUR/GBP fell 0.48% to 0.8779.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 94.44.
