Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.74% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND), which rose 3.28% or 1.76 points to trade at 55.50 at the close. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) added 1.95% or 0.63 points to end at 32.91 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 1.82% or 1.34 points to 75.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV (AS:BOSN), which lost 4.40% or 1.42 points to trade at 30.82 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 0.91% or 0.260 points to end at 28.415 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 0.20% or 0.10 points to 49.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 82 to 39 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.19% to 9.87.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.97% or 0.60 to $61.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.60% or 0.41 to hit $67.66 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1322.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.2044, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.8878.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 91.69.
