Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.81% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 34.57% or 11.71 points to trade at 45.60 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 8.46% or 0.69 points to end at 8.83 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) was up 1.94% or 0.525 points to 27.630 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP), which lost 4.06% or 9.10 points to trade at 215.00 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 3.01% or 2.290 points to end at 73.750 and Aalberts Industries NV (AS:AALB) shed 0.80% or 0.34 points to 42.94.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 77 to 40 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 6.35% to 10.05 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.36% or 0.79 to $57.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.58% or 1.02 to hit $63.67 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.30% or 3.70 to trade at $1243.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.1735, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8807.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 94.09.
