Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA), which rose 1.66% or 0.69 points to trade at 42.35 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 0.79% or 0.02 points to end at 2.68 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 0.75% or 0.660 points to 89.060 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 2.30% or 0.56 points to trade at 23.79 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.48% or 0.385 points to end at 25.575 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) shed 1.47% or 0.078 points to 5.230.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 67 to 56 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.63% to 11.78.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.28% or 0.19 to $67.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.15% or 0.11 to hit $74.67 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.72% or 8.70 to trade at $1194.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1555, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.9015.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 95.45.
