Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.70% or 2.340 points to trade at 88.900 at the close. Relx PLC (AS:REL) added 2.08% or 0.380 points to end at 18.650 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) was up 1.79% or 0.042 points to 2.383 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 12.53% or 0.22 points to trade at 1.56 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) declined 3.35% or 0.900 points to end at 26.000 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) shed 3.10% or 0.638 points to 19.942.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 75 to 52 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.07% to 17.45.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 6.55% or 3.58 to $51.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 5.70% or 3.57 to hit $59.03 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.36% or 4.40 to trade at $1223.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.1334, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8843.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 96.820.
