Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.26% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA), which rose 2.68% or 0.93 points to trade at 35.42 at the close. Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) added 0.94% or 0.71 points to end at 76.49 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 0.64% or 0.50 points to 78.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 2.18% or 0.74 points to trade at 33.46 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 1.98% or 0.24 points to end at 11.88 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.48% or 1.260 points to 84.110.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 76 to 50 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.91% to 11.07.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.33% or 0.19 to $57.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.79% or 0.51 to hit $63.76 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.50% or 6.37 to trade at $1275.23 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.1582, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8806.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 94.85.
