Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which rose 3.60% or 0.79 points to trade at 22.75 at the close. Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) added 1.04% or 0.054 points to end at 5.244 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 0.83% or 0.720 points to 87.080 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa), which lost 2.14% or 0.640 points to trade at 29.330 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.34% or 0.340 points to end at 25.115 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) shed 0.73% or 0.02 points to 3.14.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 70 to 51 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.89% to 11.76.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 4.02% or 2.81 to $67.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 4.33% or 3.26 to hit $72.07 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.21% or 2.60 to trade at $1238.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1696, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.8847.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.37.
