Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc), which rose 1.42% or 0.53 points to trade at 37.87 at the close. Relx NV (AS:RELN) added 0.59% or 0.105 points to end at 17.960 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 0.40% or 0.300 points to 75.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV (AS:BOSN), which lost 2.80% or 0.82 points to trade at 28.50 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.84% or 0.415 points to end at 22.080 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) shed 1.48% or 0.077 points to 5.109.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 76 to 42 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 7.63% to 12.86.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.36% or 0.17 to $46.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.05% or 0.53 to hit $50.80 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.60% or 7.74 to trade at $1290.64 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1743, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.9118.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 93.54.
