Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Aalberts Industries NV (AS:AALB), which rose 0.68% or 0.28 points to trade at 41.58 at the close. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) added 0.51% or 0.17 points to end at 34.24 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 0.32% or 0.25 points to 77.88 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heineken (AS:HEIN), which lost 3.38% or 2.87 points to trade at 82.10 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.49% or 0.385 points to end at 25.435 and NN Group NV (AS:NN) shed 1.33% or 0.48 points to 35.74.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 42 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 12.08% to 12.67 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.57% or 0.30 to $52.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.22% or 0.13 to hit $58.20 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.15% or 1.98 to trade at $1280.28 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.42% to 1.1810, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.8911.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 93.53.
