Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 2.05% or 0.17 points to trade at 8.40 at the close. SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO) added 1.43% or 0.21 points to end at 14.86 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 0.47% or 0.125 points to 26.975 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG), which lost 2.74% or 0.91 points to trade at 32.15 in late trade. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) declined 1.71% or 1.27 points to end at 73.11 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.56% or 1.200 points to 75.870.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 78 to 44 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 15.28% to 11.15.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.66% or 0.38 to $57.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.69% or 0.44 to hit $64.24 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.52% or 6.60 to trade at $1270.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1880, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8868.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 92.88.
