Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 1.01% or 0.50 points to trade at 50.02 at the close. ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL) added 0.93% or 0.38 points to end at 41.10 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) was up 0.05% or 0.001 points to 2.201 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 1.82% or 0.05 points to trade at 2.59 in late trade. Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) declined 1.78% or 1.64 points to end at 90.38 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) shed 1.48% or 0.420 points to 27.990.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 92 to 40 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 8.21% to 13.14.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.40% or 0.28 to $69.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.22% or 0.17 to hit $77.85 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1205.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.1591, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.8948.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 95.12.
