Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.58% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which rose 1.53% or 0.306 points to trade at 20.260 at the close. Unilever NV DRC (AS:UNc) added 0.40% or 0.19 points to end at 47.57 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) was down 0.36% or 0.18 points to 50.26 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 6.22% or 0.14 points to trade at 2.14 in late trade. Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) declined 4.52% or 3.54 points to end at 74.70 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 4.39% or 4.160 points to 90.500.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 115 to 21 and 5 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.61% to 16.36.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 4.47% or 3.09 to $66.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 4.52% or 3.61 to hit $76.22 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.10% or 13.40 to trade at $1234.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.1480, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8833.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 95.62.
