Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 1.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO), which rose 2.85% or 2.12 points to trade at 76.58 at the close. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) added 0.81% or 0.28 points to end at 34.82 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was up 0.35% or 0.062 points to 17.806 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which lost 4.95% or 7.70 points to trade at 148.00 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 3.97% or 1.100 points to end at 26.610 and SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO) shed 3.33% or 0.47 points to 13.81.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 102 to 22 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 44.81% to 25.74 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.55% or 0.96 to $60.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.42% or 0.93 to hit $64.58 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.65% or 8.60 to trade at $1323.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.2240, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8798.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 90.23.
