Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Healthcare and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 3.32% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which fell 0.20% or 0.10 points to trade at 50.50 at the close. Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) fell 1.20% or 0.26 points to end at 21.34 and Unilever NV DRC (AS:UNc) was down 1.36% or 0.67 points to 48.16 in late trade.

Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which lost 5.86% or 1.180 points to trade at 18.960 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 5.74% or 0.13 points to end at 2.12 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) shed 5.40% or 0.257 points to 4.505.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 116 to 11 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 28.26% to 22.02 a new 6-month high.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 3.33% or 1.76 to $51.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 3.43% or 2.11 to hit $59.45 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.29% or 3.60 to trade at $1246.20 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1386, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8902.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 96.680.
