Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Services, Construction & Engineering and Investment Trust sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 13.79% or 40.00 points to trade at 330.00 at the close. Associated Motor Finance Company PLC (CM:ASSO) added 11.85% or 46.60 points to end at 440.00 and Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU) was up 9.09% or 0.10 points to 1.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lankem Developments PLC (CM:LDEV), which lost 17.39% or 0.80 points to trade at 3.80 in late trade. Office Equipment PLC (CM:OFEQ) declined 14.06% or 18.40 points to end at 112.50 and East West Properties PLC (CM:EAST) shed 12.68% or 1.80 points to 12.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 120 to 58 and 44 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.60% or 0.63 to $38.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.84% or 0.75 to hit $40.12 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.21% or 2.60 to trade at $1219.40 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.51% to 208.685, while USD/LKR fell 0.31% to 146.435.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 95.97.
