Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Energy, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR), which rose 6.22% or 4.25 points to trade at 72.55 at the close. PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) added 6.14% or 0.62 points to end at 10.71 and KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) was up 4.47% or 4.17 points to 97.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP), which lost 3.40% or 1.80 points to trade at 51.15 in late trade. Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) declined 1.51% or 1.31 points to end at 85.19 and Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO) shed 0.45% or 0.53 points to 116.38.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 222 to 220 and 171 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.13% or 0.09 to $71.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.12% or 0.09 to hit $77.12 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.48% or 6.30 to trade at $1319.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.47% to 4.2431, while USD/PLN fell 0.93% to 3.5640.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 92.68.
