Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 lost 1.85% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR), which rose 1.28% or 0.88 points to trade at 69.48 at the close. Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) added 0.70% or 0.38 points to end at 54.47 and CCC SA (WA:CCCP) was up 0.18% or 0.30 points to 170.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LPP SA (WA:LPPP), which lost 4.51% or 261.40 points to trade at 5538.60 in late trade. Energa SA (WA:ENGP) declined 4.30% or 0.53 points to end at 11.80 and KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) shed 4.24% or 3.11 points to 70.28.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 333 to 199 and 162 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.41% or 0.18 to $43.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.36% or 0.16 to hit $44.81 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.84% or 10.85 to trade at $1280.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.08% to 4.3984, while USD/PLN rose 0.13% to 3.8268.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 93.25.
