Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Telecoms and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa), which rose 2.93% or 0.665 points to trade at 23.375 at the close. Unilever NV (AS:UNc) added 0.31% or 0.12 points to end at 38.30 and Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) was down 0.32% or 0.10 points to 29.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASML Holding (AS:ASML), which lost 2.25% or 2.17 points to trade at 94.33 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 2.19% or 0.46 points to end at 20.34 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) shed 1.90% or 0.32 points to 16.48.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 131 to 40 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 9.54% to 21.97 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.73% or 0.34 to $46.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.01% or 0.49 to hit $48.12 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.20% or 15.25 to trade at $1288.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.68% to 1.1055, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.9035.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.56% at 97.77.
