Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Plantations, Investment Trust and Power & Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU), which rose 24.70% or 4.10 points to trade at 20.70 at the close. Trade Finance & Investments PLC (CM:TFIL) added 24.07% or 6.50 points to end at 33.50 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) was up 20.00% or 0.1000 points to 0.6000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL), which lost 21.68% or 498.20 points to trade at 1800.00 in late trade. Odel PLC (CM:ODEL) declined 9.21% or 2.10 points to end at 20.70 and Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) shed 7.69% or 0.100 points to 1.200.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 128 to 50 and 54 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.47% or 0.25 to $52.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.32% or 0.18 to hit $55.79 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.13% or 1.55 to trade at $1226.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.31% to 187.215, while USD/LKR fell 0.11% to 150.540.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 101.47.
