Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 3.81% or 0.60 points to trade at 16.50 at the close. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) added 3.00% or 0.55 points to end at 18.72 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) was up 2.87% or 0.097 points to 3.478 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.06% or 0.640 points to trade at 59.580 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 0.76% or 1.80 points to end at 236.10 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) shed 0.69% or 0.14 points to 20.86.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 108 to 58 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.42% to 16.95.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.41% or 1.06 to $45.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.83% or 0.84 to hit $46.72 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.89% or 11.75 to trade at $1329.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1159, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.8599.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 95.78.
