Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Financial Services and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.44%, while the MDAX index lost 0.23%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 1.74% or 0.200 points to trade at 11.675 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 1.57% or 0.097 points to end at 6.258 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 1.53% or 0.215 points to 14.305 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 2.56% or 0.560 points to trade at 21.350 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 2.23% or 0.73 points to end at 32.20 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) shed 2.16% or 3.300 points to 149.400.
The top performers on the MDAX were Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which rose 12.04% to 94.280, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was up 4.75% to settle at 56.500 and Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which gained 3.74% to close at 55.290.
The worst performers were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was down 6.59% to 41.890 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which lost 3.14% to settle at 29.615 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was down 3.13% to 77.500 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which rose 3.60% to 37.40, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 3.30% to settle at 27.270 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which gained 2.54% to close at 3.760.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (F:AIXC) which was down 10.48% to 4.477 in late trade, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which lost 2.83% to settle at 9.038 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 2.30% to 12.125 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 529 to 346 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.70% to 18.16.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.43% or 5.45 to $1268.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.06% or 0.53 to hit $49.43 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.38% or 0.70 to trade at $50.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.27% to 1.0918, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8925.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 98.52.
