Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Technology and Construction sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.29%, while the MDAX index gained 0.08%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 1.67% or 0.400 points to trade at 24.350 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 1.63% or 0.205 points to end at 12.755 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 0.94% or 0.770 points to 83.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which lost 1.70% or 2.600 points to trade at 149.900 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 1.34% or 0.260 points to end at 19.180 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) shed 1.17% or 0.840 points to 70.720.
The top performers on the MDAX were Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which rose 1.52% to 31.000, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 1.34% to settle at 55.190 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which gained 1.33% to close at 37.085.
The worst performers were Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was down 3.49% to 36.750 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which lost 1.13% to settle at 60.460 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 1.06% to 38.38 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which rose 3.40% to 35.72, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 1.88% to settle at 7.960 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 1.34% to close at 44.510.
The worst performers were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which was down 7.69% to 0.036 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 5.36% to settle at 49.930 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 3.49% to 3.987 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 401 to 352 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.29% to 15.16.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.23% or 2.75 to $1187.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.88% or 1.01 to hit $52.77 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 2.08% or 1.17 to trade at $55.07 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.0689, while EUR/GBP rose 0.58% to 0.8528.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 100.62.
