Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Footwear & Textile, Information Technology and Motors sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were AIA Insurance Lanka PLC (CM:AVIV), which rose 25.00% or 85.00 points to trade at 425.00 at the close. Renuka City Hotel PLC (CM:RENU) added 24.96% or 71.10 points to end at 356.00 and East West Properties PLC (CM:EAST) was up 21.43% or 2.70 points to 15.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD), which lost 18.94% or 222.00 points to trade at 950.00 in late trade. Kahawatte Plantations PLC (CM:KAHA) declined 12.50% or 5.00 points to end at 35.00 and Autodrome PLC (CM:AUTO) shed 8.63% or 6.90 points to 73.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 100 to 75 and 56 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.58% or 0.35 to $60.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.12% or 0.08 to hit $64.44 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.10 to trade at $1356.90 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.48% to 218.165, while USD/LKR fell 0.33% to 155.070.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 88.62.
