Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Footwear & Textile, Plantations and Information Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.55% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (CM:SWAR), which rose 75.00% or 0.900 points to trade at 2.100 at the close. PCH Holdings PLC (CM:PCHH) added 40.00% or 0.200 points to end at 0.700 and Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE) was up 33.33% or 0.300 points to 1.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Office Equipment PLC (CM:OFEQ), which lost 21.39% or 14.50 points to trade at 53.30 in late trade. Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH) declined 17.64% or 69.60 points to end at 325.00 and Hikkaduwa Beach Resort Ltd (CM:CITH) shed 14.15% or 1.50 points to 9.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 117 to 64 and 55 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.78% or 0.48 to $61.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.69% or 0.45 to hit $65.06 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.80 to trade at $1312.80 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.31% to 214.030, while USD/LKR fell 0.12% to 154.490.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 90.35.
