Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Motors, Power & Energy and Hotels & Travel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.43% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Colombo Investment Trust PLC (CM:CIT), which rose 19.00% or 19.00 points to trade at 119.00 at the close. Galadari Hotels Lanka PLC (CM:GHLL) added 17.14% or 1.80 points to end at 12.30 and Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH) was up 15.70% or 4.60 points to 33.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO), which lost 22.89% or 595.10 points to trade at 2005.00 in late trade. Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) declined 22.13% or 468.80 points to end at 1650.00 and Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) shed 16.48% or 375.00 points to 1900.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 119 to 72 and 48 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.90% or 0.88 to $47.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.99% or 0.95 to hit $48.78 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.82% or 10.45 to trade at $1283.15 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.15% to 210.240, while USD/LKR rose 0.29% to 146.515.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 94.59.
