Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Plantations, Footwear & Textile and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (CM:SWAR), which rose 50.00% or 0.400 points to trade at 1.200 at the close. Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM) added 50.00% or 0.100 points to end at 0.300 and Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI) was up 23.82% or 146.10 points to 759.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Trans Asia Hotels PLC (CM:TRAN), which lost 15.44% or 13.90 points to trade at 76.10 in late trade. Samson International PLC (CM:SIL) declined 14.74% or 14.00 points to end at 81.00 and Capital Alliance Finance PLC (CM:CAFL) shed 13.70% or 3.70 points to 23.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 85 to 73 and 57 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.25% or 0.16 to $63.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.13% or 0.09 to hit $66.77 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.09% or 1.20 to trade at $1330.70 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.45% to 214.815, while USD/LKR fell 0.08% to 154.570.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 89.72.
