Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Semiconductor and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.66% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Aurotek Corp (TW:6215), which rose 10.00% or 2.20 points to trade at 24.20 at the close. JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) added 9.96% or 2.30 points to end at 25.40 and Pan Jit International Inc (TW:2481) was up 9.96% or 3.45 points to 38.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which lost 9.95% or 4.05 points to trade at 36.65 in late trade. Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) declined 9.55% or 1.70 points to end at 16.10 and China Steel Structure Co Ltd (TW:2013) shed 6.68% or 1.60 points to 22.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 407 to 367 and 113 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.26% or 0.17 to $64.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $69.94 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.59% or 7.90 to trade at $1342.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.24% to 29.532, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2189.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 90.51.
