Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.64% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were GeoVision Inc (TW:3356), which rose 9.90% or 3.45 points to trade at 38.30 at the close. Edom Technology Co Ltd (TW:3048) added 8.99% or 1.60 points to end at 19.40 and Uniflex Technology Inc (TW:3321) was up 6.69% or 0.85 points to 13.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shuttle Inc (TW:2405), which lost 9.98% or 2.00 points to trade at 18.05 in late trade. Paragon Technologies Co Ltd (TW:3518) declined 9.97% or 4.60 points to end at 41.55 and Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383) shed 9.95% or 10.80 points to 97.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 667 to 144 and 69 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.36% or 0.21 to $57.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.29% or 0.18 to hit $62.68 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 5.00 to trade at $1269.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.14% to 30.029, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2199.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 93.21.
