Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Electronic Parts/Components sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 2.14% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Li Cheng Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:4426), which rose 6.59% or 2.35 points to trade at 38.00 at the close. Lead Data Inc (TW:2443) added 5.79% or 0.37 points to end at 6.76 and Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) was up 4.00% or 1.00 points to 26.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Enterex International Ltd (TW:1592), which lost 10.00% or 2.65 points to trade at 23.85 in late trade. Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) declined 10.00% or 3.75 points to end at 33.75 and Ritek Corp (TW:2349) shed 10.00% or 1.200 points to 10.800.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 804 to 73 and 39 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.01% or 0.01 to $67.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.19% or 0.14 to hit $72.67 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 2.90 to trade at $1216.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.16% to 30.796, while TWD/CNY rose 0.23% to 0.2225.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 96.18.
