Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, General Retailers and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 2.00% or 11.20 points to trade at 571.00 at the close. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) added 1.68% or 9.00 points to end at 545.20 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) was up 1.36% or 3.80 points to 283.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE), which lost 2.34% or 26.50 points to trade at 1,104.00 in late trade. Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) declined 1.53% or 24.00 points to end at 1,546.00 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) shed 1.47% or 10.60 points to 713.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 835 to 722 and 546 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.41% or 8.15 to $2,000.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.06% or 0.82 to hit $76.28 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.02 to trade at $81.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.52% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 103.39.
