Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Healthcare Equipment & Services and General Industrial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq), which rose 164.55% or 3.11 points to trade at 5.00 at the close. NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq) added 66.17% or 0.40 points to end at 1.00 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) was up 6.51% or 4.72 points to 77.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which lost 8.83% or 356.50 points to trade at 3,679.00 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 7.09% or 116.00 points to end at 1,520.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) shed 5.63% or 29.20 points to 489.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1062 to 795 and 477 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.47% or 9.15 to $1,946.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.23% or 1.26 to hit $103.45 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.04% or 1.11 to trade at $107.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 100.54.
