Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Forestry & Paper and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 2.56% or 46.60 points to trade at 1864.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 2.42% or 20.00 points to end at 844.80 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 2.30% or 5.30 points to 236.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA), which lost 2.60% or 14.00 points to trade at 524.00 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 2.14% or 20.60 points to end at 940.40 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) shed 2.05% or 41.00 points to 1955.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1129 to 1011 and 192 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.46% or 6.95 to $1510.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 4.06% or 2.23 to hit $57.16 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 4.87% or 2.85 to trade at $61.42 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.05% to 1.2067, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.9263.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 97.602.
