Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Construction & Materials and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 6.06% or 4.57 points to trade at 79.93 at the close. Informa PLC (LON:INF) added 4.04% or 17.90 points to end at 460.90 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was up 3.97% or 98.0 points to 2566.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which lost 11.49% or 9.64 points to trade at 74.26 in late trade. AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV) declined 5.41% or 239.0 points to end at 4178.0 and J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) shed 4.84% or 10.12 points to 198.78.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1473 to 758 and 59 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.86% or 54.25 to $1950.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.07% or 0.42 to hit $38.73 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.92% or 0.38 to trade at $40.85 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.86% to 1.3097, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.9022.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.75% at 92.710.
