Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, General Industrial and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Relx PLC (LON:REL), which rose 2.27% or 36.50 points to trade at 1647.00 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 2.09% or 12.80 points to end at 624.10 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) was up 2.00% or 35.50 points to 1812.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 4.81% or 29.00 points to trade at 574.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.03% or 25.00 points to end at 799.00 and Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU) shed 2.44% or 2.98 points to 119.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1166 to 937 and 323 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.85% or 11.05 to $1288.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.86% or 0.48 to hit $56.28 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.37% or 0.24 to trade at $65.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.25% to 1.3170, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8600.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 96.637.
