Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Construction & Materials and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which rose 14.39% or 286.50 points to trade at 2277.00 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 5.39% or 53.70 points to end at 1049.50 and Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) was up 3.40% or 29.40 points to 893.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV), which lost 2.58% or 13.70 points to trade at 518.30 in late trade. Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) declined 1.82% or 10.20 points to end at 550.00 and Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SKG) shed 1.73% or 46.00 points to 2610.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1162 to 979 and 211 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.25 to $1413.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.08% or 1.24 to hit $58.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.73% or 1.15 to trade at $65.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.79% to 1.2415, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.9031.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 96.972.
