Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 4.62% or 33.40 points to trade at 756.80 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 3.61% or 2.78 points to end at 79.82 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 3.39% or 15.65 points to 477.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which lost 3.78% or 3.17 points to trade at 80.68 in late trade. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) declined 3.35% or 27.00 points to end at 778.80 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) shed 3.12% or 9.80 points to 304.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 989 to 845 and 436 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.29% or 5.30 to $1,813.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.47% or 2.68 to hit $111.31 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.83% or 2.04 to trade at $113.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 104.39.
