Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 2.79% or 13.30 points to trade at 490.50 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 2.72% or 16.50 points to end at 622.50 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 2.63% or 7.80 points to 304.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 6.67% or 51.00 points to trade at 714.20 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 5.20% or 93.00 points to end at 1,696.00 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) shed 5.14% or 9.30 points to 171.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 937 to 704 and 496 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.11% or 2.20 to $1,995.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.87% or 2.76 to hit $68.56 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 3.71% or 2.82 to trade at $73.21 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 103.49.
