Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which rose 5.19% or 81.50 points to trade at 1651.50 at the close. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq) added 5.07% or 97.00 points to end at 2010.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 4.83% or 115.00 points to 2494.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 22.92% or 111.60 points to trade at 375.30 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 4.05% or 50.50 points to end at 1197.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 2.79% or 3.10 points to 108.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1235 to 1077 and 75 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 3.10% or 59.40 to $1854.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.71% or 0.87 to hit $51.70 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.02% or 1.10 to trade at $55.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.06% to 1.3572, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.9020.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 89.938.
