Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Mining and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 3.90% or 4.76 points to trade at 126.94 at the close. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq) added 3.57% or 57.00 points to end at 1653.50 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 3.10% or 49.4 points to 1644.6 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which lost 2.25% or 122.0 points to trade at 5304.0 in late trade. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) declined 2.18% or 31.00 points to end at 1390.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) shed 1.79% or 285.0 points to 15605.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1228 to 778 and 424 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.54% or 27.45 to $1751.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.37% or 0.99 to hit $73.22 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.13% or 0.86 to trade at $77.05 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.88% to 1.3744, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8540.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 93.062.
