Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemicals, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX), which rose 3.11% or 315.00 points to trade at 10,455.00 at the close. London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) added 2.45% or 198.00 points to end at 8,290.00 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) was up 1.85% or 23.50 points to 1,292.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 4.13% or 25.60 points to trade at 594.40 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 3.65% or 18.10 points to end at 477.80 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 2.72% or 33.50 points to 1,198.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 948 to 671 and 511 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.75 to $1,963.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.78% or 1.37 to hit $75.52 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.70% or 1.38 to trade at $79.98 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 99.61.
