Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Engineering, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 5.64% or 66.00 points to trade at 1236.50 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 1.20% or 1.04 points to end at 87.76 and Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) was up 1.06% or 2.40 points to 228.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which lost 5.46% or 133.00 points to trade at 2302.00 in late trade. Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) declined 5.32% or 111.50 points to end at 1986.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) shed 3.83% or 33.80 points to 848.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1348 to 816 and 194 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.55 to $1399.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.38% or 0.22 to hit $57.88 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.20 to trade at $64.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.32% to 1.2470, while EUR/GBP rose 0.35% to 0.8991.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 97.055.
