Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT), which rose 1.77% or 37.00 points to trade at 2,128.00 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 1.27% or 150.00 points to end at 11,945.00 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) was up 1.15% or 68.00 points to 5,968.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML), which lost 4.42% or 94.00 points to trade at 2,034.00 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 3.69% or 49.00 points to end at 1,279.50 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) shed 3.45% or 7.40 points to 206.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1196 to 610 and 486 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.76% or 13.25 to $1,740.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.23% or 0.94 to hit $77.22 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.27 to trade at $83.98 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.81% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.55% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 106.37.
