Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Aerospace & Defense, Banking and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.74% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 4.55% or 57.50 points to trade at 1320.00 at the close. MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq) added 3.72% or 0.97 points to end at 27.02 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was up 2.27% or 38.80 points to 1751.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which lost 14.27% or 34.40 points to trade at 206.70 in late trade. Meggitt PLC (LON:MGGT) declined 6.57% or 19.10 points to end at 271.80 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 6.38% or 13.80 points to 202.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1368 to 818 and 171 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.09% or 1.85 to $1976.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.66% or 0.28 to hit $42.89 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.68% or 0.31 to trade at $45.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.05% to 1.3376, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8905.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 92.368.
