Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 7.61% to hit a new 3-year low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO), which fell 0.04% or 0.10 points to trade at 240.50 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) fell 0.81% or 5.40 points to end at 657.80 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was down 2.22% or 22.20 points to 977.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rosneft (LON:ROSNq), which lost 21.43% or 1.24 points to trade at 4.53 in late trade. BP PLC (LON:BP) declined 19.48% or 77.00 points to end at 318.20 and Surgutneftegaz L (LON:SNGSyq) shed 19.18% or 0.99 points to 4.16.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2187 to 114 and 51 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.03% or 0.50 to $1672.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 22.36% or 9.23 to hit $32.05 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 22.20% or 10.05 to trade at $35.22 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.54% to 1.3117, while EUR/GBP rose 0.84% to 0.8726.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.01% at 94.963.
