Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Banking, Financials & Insurance and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 16.67% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.7000 at the close. Colombo Fort Investments PLC (CM:CFI) added 15.11% or 10.50 points to end at 80.00 and Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) was up 12.50% or 0.100 points to 0.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD), which lost 13.88% or 226.90 points to trade at 1408.10 in late trade. Ceylon and Foreign Trades PLC (CM:CFT) declined 11.29% or 0.70 points to end at 5.50 and Mackwoods Energy PLC (CM:MWEL) shed 9.38% or 0.300 points to 2.900.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 100 to 59 and 45 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.71% or 0.37 to $51.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.31% or 0.17 to hit $54.77 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.33% or 3.85 to trade at $1172.65 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.13% to 188.825, while USD/LKR fell 0.18% to 148.135.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 100.12.
