Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking, Financials and Food sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 9.75% or 0.0780 points to trade at 0.8780 at the close. Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) added 8.44% or 0.2000 points to end at 2.5700 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) was up 6.62% or 0.041 points to 0.660 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr), which lost 13.28% or 0.017 points to trade at 0.111 in late trade. Iaso (AT:IASr) declined 8.30% or 0.038 points to end at 0.420 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) shed 7.46% or 0.044 points to 0.546.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 48 to 33 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.48% or 6.40 to $1325.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.10% or 0.93 to hit $43.26 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.87% or 0.86 to trade at $45.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.0974, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.8362.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 97.46.
