Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Utilities and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.85%, while the MDAX index added 1.14%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 5.23% or 0.680 points to trade at 13.675 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 4.36% or 0.273 points to end at 6.533 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 4.02% or 0.480 points to 12.430 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (DE:HNKG), which lost 1.17% or 1.180 points to trade at 99.770 in late trade. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) declined 1.00% or 0.780 points to end at 77.330 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) shed 0.73% or 0.105 points to 14.225.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which rose 6.51% to 44.205, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was up 5.26% to settle at 28.810 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which gained 4.51% to close at 33.03.
The worst performers were Fielmann AG O.N. (DE:FIEG) which was down 1.54% to 62.120 in late trade, LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which lost 0.89% to settle at 78.700 and Airbus Group (F:AIRG) which was down 0.68% to 50.783 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 4.17% to 15.000, Jenoptik AG O.N. (DE:JENG) which was up 3.70% to settle at 14.005 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 3.58% to close at 3.641.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 2.38% to 49.005 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 1.72% to settle at 33.170 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 1.31% to 3.621 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 598 to 265 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.66% to 30.90.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.57% or 7.35 to $1291.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.94% or 1.36 to hit $47.57 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 3.24% or 1.53 to trade at $48.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.33% to 1.1263, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.7875.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.37% at 94.42.
